Sinus Lift

Building bone height in selected upper-jaw implant sites when the sinus limits available space.

UPPER-JAW IMPLANT PLANNING

When anatomy sets the limit.

The back of the upper jaw can present a unique implant challenge because the maxillary sinus sits above the premolar and molar region. After tooth loss, the remaining bone may be too shallow for the planned implant.

A sinus lift is a bone-augmentation procedure used in selected cases to create additional vertical bone height beneath the sinus so an implant can be planned in a more suitable foundation.

THE DECISION

Three-dimensional planning comes first.

01 / IMAGE

Measure the bone

Ashraf Dentistry uses CBCT imaging for implant planning, allowing the team to evaluate available bone and sinus anatomy in three dimensions.

02 / PLAN

Choose the approach

The amount of remaining bone and the planned implant position help determine whether augmentation is needed and how it should be staged.

03 / REBUILD

Add graft material

The sinus membrane is carefully elevated and graft material is placed beneath it to create additional bone volume.

SIMULTANEOUS OR STAGED

Implant timing depends on the foundation.

In some cases, a sinus lift and implant placement may be performed during the same surgical visit. In others, the graft is allowed to heal before the implant is placed.

The decision depends on the amount and quality of existing bone, primary implant stability, the size of the augmentation and the broader restorative plan.

Part of implant dentistry

Sinus lifts are one of several surgical procedures Ashraf Dentistry includes within its implant program, alongside bone grafting, gum grafting and full-arch implant treatment.

HEALING SUPPORT

PRP may be incorporated into grafting procedures.

Ashraf Dentistry describes Platelet-Rich Plasma as part of its implant and grafting workflow. PRP is prepared from the patient’s own blood and can be applied to the surgical area as a biologic adjunct during healing.

Your dentist will determine whether PRP is appropriate within the specific grafting plan.

RELATED FOUNDATION PROCEDURES

Different deficiencies require different solutions.

BONE WIDTH

Bone Grafting

Used when an implant site needs additional bone volume beyond vertical sinus augmentation.

SOFT TISSUE

Gum Grafting

Used when soft-tissue thickness, recession or contour needs additional support.

COMFORT

Sedation Dentistry

Sedation may be considered for surgical procedures depending on patient and treatment needs.

SINUS LIFT / YORKVILLE + WATERLOO

Create the foundation before placing the implant.

A CBCT-based implant consultation can determine whether the posterior upper jaw has enough bone for implant placement or whether sinus augmentation should be considered.
