IMPLANT FOUNDATION / YORKVILLE + WATERLOO

Bone Grafting &
Socket Preservation

Preserving or rebuilding jawbone when future restorative treatment depends on the foundation beneath it.

BONE CHANGES AFTER TOOTH LOSS

Preserve what remains. Rebuild what is missing.

Jawbone changes after a tooth is removed. Over time, the ridge can lose volume, which may affect the amount of bone available for future implant placement.

Ashraf Dentistry includes bone grafting within its implant program when additional bone support is required and uses 3D CBCT imaging to evaluate implant sites before surgery.

PRESERVE OR REBUILD

Similar materials. Different objectives.

AFTER EXTRACTION

Socket Preservation

Graft material may be placed within a fresh extraction socket when maintaining ridge volume is important for the future restorative plan.

BEFORE OR WITH IMPLANT

Bone Grafting

An established bone deficiency may require augmentation to create additional volume for planned implant placement.

SELECTED DEFECTS

Guided Regeneration

Barrier membranes and graft materials may be used in selected defects to protect the healing space while new tissue forms.

HOW THE PLAN IS CHOSEN

The anatomy determines the approach.

Bone grafting is not a single procedure. The approach varies according to the size and shape of the defect, implant timing, surrounding anatomy and whether the objective is to preserve a fresh extraction site or reconstruct an established deficiency.

Three-dimensional CBCT imaging helps evaluate the available ridge and surrounding structures before the implant and grafting plan is finalized.

POSTERIOR UPPER JAW

When the sinus limits available bone.

When there is insufficient vertical bone beneath the maxillary sinus, the appropriate augmentation may involve a sinus lift rather than conventional ridge grafting alone.

PRP + GRAFTING

Biologic support from the patient’s own blood.

Ashraf Dentistry may incorporate Platelet-Rich Plasma into selected implant and grafting procedures. The platelet-rich component is prepared from a small sample of the patient’s own blood and used at the surgical site as an adjunct to the healing process.

PRP does not replace graft material, surgical technique or appropriate follow-up. It is one possible component of the overall treatment plan.

WHAT COMES NEXT?

The graft is the foundation, not the final restoration.

01 / HEAL

Allow integration

Some grafts require a healing period before the next surgical or restorative stage.

02 / REASSESS

Confirm the foundation

Clinical review and imaging may be used to evaluate the site before proceeding to implant placement or another treatment stage.

03 / RESTORE

Complete the plan

Implant placement and the final restoration proceed according to the individual staged treatment plan.

BONE GRAFTING + SOCKET PRESERVATION

Protect the site you may need later.

Schedule an implant-focused assessment to determine whether socket preservation, bone grafting or another augmentation procedure should be considered as part of your treatment plan.
