REGENERATIVE PERIODONTAL + IMPLANT CARE / YORKVILLE + WATERLOO

Guided Bone &
Tissue Regeneration

Creating and protecting a healing space so selected bone and periodontal defects can regenerate.

REGENERATION NEEDS SPACE

Guide which tissue heals where.

Guided regeneration refers to surgical techniques that use grafting materials and barrier membranes to protect a healing space. The aim is to support regeneration of selected tissues while limiting faster-growing soft tissue from occupying the area too early.

At Ashraf Dentistry, regenerative procedures fit within the broader implant, bone-grafting and periodontal services offered at our Yorkville and Waterloo practices.

THE REGENERATIVE FRAMEWORK

Three parts working together.

01 / FOUNDATION

Graft material

A graft can provide volume and a scaffold within the area being reconstructed.

02 / BARRIER

Membrane

A membrane can protect the healing space and help separate tissues during early regeneration.

03 / BIOLOGY

Healing environment

Blood supply, wound stability and patient-specific biology remain important to the healing process.

BONE OR PERIODONTAL TISSUE?

The indication defines the technique.

Guided bone regeneration is commonly associated with rebuilding bone around a planned or existing implant site. Guided tissue regeneration is a periodontal approach used for selected defects around natural teeth.

The materials and surgical design depend on the anatomy being treated, the size and shape of the defect, and the restorative or periodontal objective.

RELATED PROCEDURES

Regeneration may be one part of a larger plan.

  • Bone grafting and socket preservation
  • Sinus lift procedures
  • Connective tissue and gum grafting
  • Dental implant placement

PRP + REGENERATIVE CARE

A biologic adjunct within a surgical plan.

Ashraf Dentistry may incorporate Platelet-Rich Plasma into selected implant and grafting procedures. Platelets concentrated from the patient’s own blood contain signaling proteins involved in normal healing.

PRP may be placed at the surgical site when selected by the treating dentist, alongside—not instead of—the graft, membrane, wound stability and surgical technique required for regeneration.

PLANNING THE SITE

Regeneration is treatment-specific.

01 / IMAGE

3D assessment

CBCT imaging can help evaluate bone architecture and surrounding anatomy in implant-related defects.

02 / DESIGN

Surgical planning

The regenerative approach is chosen around the shape of the defect and the intended future tooth or implant position.

03 / FOLLOW

Healing + reassessment

The site is protected during early healing and reviewed before subsequent surgical or restorative stages.

GUIDED BONE + TISSUE REGENERATION

Rebuild the foundation with the final restoration in mind.
