For more than three decades, Dr. Khurrum Ashraf has built his career around a simple principle: never stop learning. Founder of Ashraf Dentistry, he established his Waterloo practice in 1992 and has devoted his career to comprehensive dentistry, advanced implant surgery, orthodontics, periodontal surgery and complex restorative care. His pursuit of continuing education has taken him to Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, Vancouver, San Francisco, Lisbon, Shanghai, São Paulo and the Dominican Republic.

A Career Built on Comprehensive Care
Born in Montreal and raised primarily in the Kitchener-Waterloo region, Dr. Khurrum Ashraf has deep roots in the community he has served for more than 30 years.
After completing his dental education at Western University, he founded his Waterloo dental practice in 1992.
From the beginning, his vision extended beyond routine dentistry. He sought to create a practice where patients could receive a broad range of treatment under one roof, supported by advanced training and a long-term commitment to clinical excellence.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Ashraf has continued to expand his knowledge in implant dentistry, oral surgery, periodontal surgery, orthodontics, bone grafting and full-arch rehabilitation.

Education
Dr. Ashraf completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Waterloo before earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Western University.

He completed extensive hands-on implant education through programs in Miami and the Dominican Republic, including training in advanced bone grafting and sinus surgery.
He also completed advanced hands-on training in zygomatic and pterygoid implants in São Paulo, Brazil — techniques used in highly complex cases involving severe bone loss.
In Lisbon, Portugal, Dr. Ashraf trained at the Malo Clinic in the principles and treatment concepts associated with full-arch implant rehabilitation and the All-on-4® treatment concept.

Mentorship in Advanced Implant Surgery
Dr. Ashraf completed a two-year mentorship with Dr. Leon Chen, founder of the Las Vegas Dental Implant Institute.
Through this mentorship, he expanded his experience in implant surgery and advanced sinus procedures while participating in training across locations including Las Vegas, Beverly Hills, Arcadia, California and Shanghai, China.
His education has been defined by direct mentorship and hands-on surgical training rather than isolated weekend courses, allowing him to continually refine both surgical technique and treatment planning.

For more than 30 years, he has also provided dental care through Sunbeam Community & Developmental Services, supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and complex care needs.
His commitment to service has extended internationally as well, including charitable dental and surgical care for underserved patients in the Dominican Republic.
Closer to home, Dr. Ashraf has supported local sports teams, community organizations and initiatives throughout the region.

Today, the practice has grown into two clinics (Waterloo and Yorkville, Toronto) both serving as family-led organizations spanning generations, while continuing the values on which it was founded — clinical excellence, thoughtful care and a commitment to treating patients as individuals.
